Getting the Team Together
Back in January 2025, Adila and I made a “New Year’s Bingo Card” — 25 things we wanted to tick off in 2025. One square stood out: complete an abseil of the Royal London Hospital together. It was meant to be one of those “do it now or you’ll never do it” things.
For months, we’ve been half-joking, half-terrified, side-eyeing each other whenever it came up. But somewhere between hesitation and courage, we finally decided to bite the bullet.
In the meantime, life kept moving. I was elected as President of the Barts and The London Students’ Association (aka Vice President Barts and The London at QMSU), and Adila was re-elected as BLSA Disability Rep. That tipped the balance. If the brilliant student body at BL trusts us to lead and represent them, the least we can do is show up with that same courage — for them, and for ourselves.
It got us thinking about community spirit, so we decided not to do this alone. We extended the invite to the QMSU President too. Because if you’re going to climb a mountain, it’s always better with a team beside you.
So here we are. This Sunday, 14th September, the team is gearing up to show up and show out. Fingers crossed we make it down in one piece — but either way, we’ll be doing it together.
I am Abseiling to help save lives in London
London’s Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to London’s most seriously injured patients. Your donation will help save more lives by keeping the helicopter in the air and the rapid response cars on the road, ready for when they are needed most. By providing intervention as quickly as possible after injury, London’s Air Ambulance Charity aims to give patients the best chance of survival, and best quality of life, after trauma.
I will be abseiling from the home of London's Air Ambulance Charity on the 17th Floor of The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. Please give what you can to help save lives in London.

Good luck! 🫶
