300 for Josh

By Jack Butler

Longest Ride yet

I thought it was time to test my self on a longer ride, I set off from home looking to get to Lancaster and back. Three hours later I was home, 66KM and just a small taste of the type of mileage that we will have to do back to back!

Dandy Killing it

Jack D has been making the most of his summer holiday and got out on multiple  rides. As a result he has now made it to Scotland he has completed 277 miles. Just show the scale of the task we have! We will only have six days to do the mileage come august next year.

New Kit

Thank you to the Air Ambulance for sending us out some kit. Got my first ride in rocking team colours 26KM

More Weekend Training

I only had an hour to spare this weekend so made sure I got a short ride in. Was a very hilly route and my average heart rate was up around 170!

New PB

Dandy got his bike back and has set a new distance PB doing just under 44KM this is about half the distance we will be doing each day. So a great practice ride!

The First Setback

As Dandy and I headed out for our first training ride together,  just 11km into the journey Dandy's chain snapped, bringing our ride to an unexpected end.

Fortunately, Liv came to the rescue and picked Dandy up while I carried on and completed the ride home.

Jacob's Longest ride yet

Another busy weekend of training saw Jacob complete his longest ride yet, covering an impressive 35km.

Every ride is helping us build towards the challenge ahead, where we'll be taking on days of around 80km on the bike before heading straight out to walk and play a full round of golf.

300 for Josh

300 for Josh
In memory of my best friend Josh, the three of us – Jack, Dandy and Jacob – are taking on a challenge that will push us to our limits while raising vital funds for London's Air Ambulance.
From 14th–19th August 2027, we'll be completing 300 for Josh: a 300-mile journey from Lancaster Golf Club to Panmure Golf Club in Scotland.
Each day we'll cycle approximately 50 miles before taking on another challenge – walking and playing a full round of golf.
*Six days. Six rounds. Three hundred miles.*

None of us are seasoned cyclists, which is exactly why we've started training now. Over the next year, we'll be sharing every early morning ride, every sore leg, every setback and every milestone as we prepare for what promises to be an unforgettable challenge.
We're doing this to honour Josh's memory and to support London's Air Ambulance, whose crews deliver life-saving care when every second counts.
If you'd like to support us, no matter how big or small the donation, we'd be incredibly grateful.

A little help

Nice ride out with the Mrs, who was riding Josh's old bike. Sadly it was a little small for me would have loved to get it all the way to Scotland. But was nice to get out training with a piece of him with us!

The final bike is here!

Another major milestone for the "300 for Josh" challenge – the final bike is here!

Dandy has now got his ride sorted after making the most of the Cycle to Work scheme, choosing a stunning Cube Attain SLX to take on the journey north.

With all three bikes now ready to roll, the planning is over and the real work begins. It's time for all three of us to get out on the roads, build our fitness and start putting some serious miles in the legs.

Important Milestone Number 2 – Jacob Has His Bike!

Another big step forward for the "300 for Josh" challenge – Jacob is now officially on two wheels!

After a bit of searching, we found a fantastic Calibre Lost Lad gravel bike on Facebook Marketplace. Not only did we manage to pick up a great bike for the challenge, but the seller also kindly donated £15 towards our fundraising efforts, taking it off the price of the bike.

Just Dandy left to get his bike. Long road ahead – but we're excited to get started.

First Ride

Today marked another important step in the "300 for Josh" challenge – my first ride on the new bike.

I decided there was only one way to start: cycle to work! The journey was 18km there and just over 20km on the way home, giving me nearly 40km in the saddle for the day.

If I'm honest, this first ride was a real eye-opener. It quickly showed me just how tough the challenge we've signed up for is going to be. Riding hundreds of miles over multiple days is going to require a huge amount of hard work, commitment and preparation.

JB's Bike!

A big milestone in the "300 for Josh" challenge has been reached – I've bought my bike!

She's a beauty: a fantastic Ribble road bike that will hopefully carry me all the way from England to Scotland as we take on this incredible challenge in memory of Josh.

I spent a lovely afternoon at Bowland Cycles in Clitheroe, where I was able to browse an excellent selection of both new and second-hand bikes. The team were incredibly helpful, and after plenty of deliberation, I found the perfect bike for the journey ahead.

There’s still a long way to go with training and preparation, but having the bike now makes everything feel that little bit more real. Every mile from this point onwards is another step towards the challenge and another opportunity to raise awareness and funds for London's Air Ambulance.

Now it's time to get some miles in the legs and start preparing for the road to Scotland!

Training has started

Me and Jacob have started in the gym and now all of a sudden the reality of what we have singed up for has set in

300 for Josh

Over the course of six days we will be cycling 288 miles, around 50 miles a day, followed by walking and playing 18 holes of golf. Starting at Lancaster Golf Course, we will cycle through the Lake District, up through the Scottish Borders, through Edinburgh, up to Kingsbarns and reach our final destination at Panmure Golf Course.
