We are abseiling to save lives in London
London’s Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to London’s most seriously injured patients. Your donation will help save more lives by keeping the helicopter in the air and the rapid response cars on the road, ready for when they are needed most. By providing intervention as quickly as possible after injury, London’s Air Ambulance Charity aims to give patients the best chance of survival, and best quality of life, after trauma.
We will be abseiling from the home of London's Air Ambulance Charity one the 17th Floor of The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. Please give what you can to help save lives in London.
We are a group of student paramedics studying at the University of Greenwich. Our names are Zack, Ricky, Poppy, Alex and Blaise. Pre-Hospital medicine is a passion that the group share and we all look forward to joining the London Air Ambulance at some point in our careers.
It’s commonly misunderstood that the Air Ambulance is NHS funded, however, this is incorrect and so the Air Ambulance charity relies on donations from the public to keep the service running and continue to provide advanced pre-hospital care for the people of London.
It costs around £11m per year to operate the Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) every year. The funding goes towards advanced lifesaving equipment that a normal ambulance doesn't carry; for example, heart stents, blood transfusion kits and advanced medication that only a doctor can administer legally.
We love the work that the Air Ambulance provides for the trauma network in London and we think that it’s a paramount resource for the people of London. Without the helicopter and trauma car, some of the most critically injured patients we come across wouldn't have a chance of survival. Please support us in helping provide lifesaving resources for the people of London.
