TCS London Marathon 2023

I did it!

Managed to smash my goal of 5 hours.  I finished with a time of 4:33:37 and raised well over a £1000.  Thank you everyone.

Hampton Court Half Marathon

Busy little weekend!  Decided it was time for a nice little break so we went to Hampton Court.  On the Saturday morning I did Bushy Parkrun and got a PB, then we went and had a good look around Hampton Court.  Incredible history all in one place.  The next day I did the Hampton Court Half.  Tough conditions as it was 50% on trail and 50% on roads.  The roads weren't closed so it also meant dodging traffic and the end section across the golf course was very slippery and muddy.  However, I got a PB beating my "Great North Run" time so was very pleased.  Only one more long run to go now and then I can start relaxing.

Another lovely run and a good week of running!

This week I decided to run every day on the hills.  It has been great and really enjoyable although a bit muddy and slippery.  Sunday finished the day with a great bunch of runners and a nice long run out to the Obelisk and back.  Not long to go now but this weekend coming I am doing a half marathon at Hampton Court Palace which I am really looking forward to.

20 Miles Today to Worcester and back!

Wasn't looking forward to this run as the route is a bit "boring", however, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  Actually quite enjoyed it.  It was great to be wearing shorts and I ran with my "race day" clothes and accessories and all went well.  Happy with the pace, if I can keep that up on the day I will be over the moon.

Beautiful trail run with Jacqui

14 miles done this Sunday.  Beautiful morning running the trails to Upton Upon Severn and back.  Because it was below zero the trails were not muddy and we managed to get round avoiding all the flooded areas of Upton.  Really happy to get the distance done in such a nice way and with great company (thank you Jacqui).  Jeffed it 90 seconds run, 30 seconds walk all the way round.

Minus 5 degrees but we did it!

I have a very good friend who I met at my first ever half marathon which was the Worcester Half in May 2021.  Since then we have both gone on to do Brighton Marathon as well as lots of other individual races.

Paul is currently training for the Manchester Marathon which is a week after London so it is great that we can train together and also makes me commit to early morning runs.

On Saturday we met at Worcester at 7 in the morning, it was minus 5 degrees and we ran around the city and river and finished at the racecourse doing the Parkrun.  It did warm up a little bit but it was so cold Paul had ice forming on his hat!  Our hands never seemed to get warm even with a big cup of tea and a slice of cake afterwards.

We did 12.5 miles which is exactly on target with my training and we "Jeffed" it and came in just under 11 minute miles, which is my goal for London.  Lets hope the cold snap goes soon and thank goodness I have Paul to motivate me to get out nice and early and get it done!  13 miles next week!

I'm running to help save lives in London and to say thank you for trying to save my brother's life.

In October 2013 my brother, Michael Bradbury was involved in a serious road traffic accident.  The London Air Ambulance was called and was able to take him to the Royal London within minutes.

Michael was placed in a medically induced coma and many doctors and nurses tried to help him recover.  Unfortunately, he went into a VS (vegetative state) and died 10 months later.

Finally, after many years of rejection I have managed to get into the London Marathon via my running club The Malvern Buzzards.   I want to raise some funds for the London Air Ambulance just to say thank you for everything they did and also to help them continue their amazing work.

I know a lot of my friends don't live in London and we have amazing Air Ambulances in our area that also need our help but if you could just spare £1 that would be amazing because it all adds up and even if we just raise enough for a Pilots Helmet!

London’s Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to London’s most seriously injured patients. Your donation will help save more lives by keeping the helicopter in the air and the rapid response cars on the road, ready for when they are needed most. By providing intervention as quickly as possible after injury, London’s Air Ambulance Charity aims to give patients the best chance of survival, and best quality of life, after trauma.

I will be taking part in the TCS London Marathon 2023 running with the London's Air Ambulance Charity Team. Please give what you can to help save lives in London.
