I'm running to help save lives in London
I’m running the London Marathon to raise money for air ambulance and celebrate 10 years since their action helped save my dad’s life.
On 5th September 2015, my dad suffered a cardiac arrest. My step-mum, Yvonne began CPR immediately and called 999. The air ambulance was called out to fly dad to the Glennfield hospital in Leicester. In total he received 17 shocks from a defibrillator and his heart had stopped beating for 50 minutes.
Dad’s recovery was miraculous - being discharged from hospital 2 months after the event. Putting numbers on it, the survival rate for a cardiac arrest is only 10% - this figure falls to 5% when the heart stops beating out of hospital. You can read more about my dads story here: https://theairambulanceservice.org.uk/patient-stories/story/patricks-story/
Supporting air ambulance ensures the service remains funded and can provide quick action like the above! Any donations will be greatly appreciated! To entice you even more - Phoenix Group will kindly match any donations.
