I'm Abseiling to help save lives in London
My name is Rajpatte Heffernan or Raj as i affectionally called. I have worked within Barts Health Trust for more than 30 years. My interest was always caring for service users, their significant others and care providers in the acute/critical care settings.
I commenced my nurse training in 1992, then joined the dental nursing training programme in 1995.
In January 1996 I started my fist job as a trained nurse in Plashet Ward which was a medical ward at Newham University Hospital (NUH). After becoming a senior staff nurse there I then join the Intensive Care and Coronary Care Unit in 1998 also at NUH as a junior nurse again. There my nursing career progressed from a junior nurse to me becoming the Modern Matron for Intensive Care, High Dependency Unit and the Critical Care Outreach Service.
During this time i also supported training and and development for nursing students, staff nurse and their mentors in both NHS and private hospitals in the post as link lecturer at City University.
In 2014 following the amalgamation of the hospital i joined the Renal High Dependency Unit in RLH as the Ward Manager.
Currently I am the lead Professional Development Nurse for Specialist Medicine on the 13th floor covering 13 C, 13 D, 13 E and 13F wards at Royal London Hospital.
My Quest is to continue to support the acute services.
London’s Air Ambulance is the charity that delivers an advanced trauma team to London’s most seriously injured patients. Your donation will help save more lives by keeping the helicopter in the air and the rapid response cars on the road, ready for when they are needed most. By providing intervention as quickly as possible after injury, London’s Air Ambulance Charity aims to give patients the best chance of survival, and best quality of life, after trauma.
I will be abseiling from the home of London's Air Ambulance Charity on the 17th Floor of The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. Please give what you can to help save lives in London.
