Why i am Running the London Marathon for the London Air Ambulance
I am running the London Marathon to raise money for the London Air Ambulance, a charity that is very close to my heart. I tragically lost my best friend, George, when he was just 17, to a bleed on the brain. The London Air Ambulance worked tirelessly to try and save his life, but sadly, George passed away.
George was the life and soul of any room — there was never a dull moment with him. Even though his life was cut short at just 17, he packed so much into those years. I will always carry the best memories of him, and his kind, funny, and generous spirit will live on in me forever.
In addition to running for George, I’ll also be running in memory of George Casey, another remarkable person whose life was tragically cut short. Although I didn’t know George personally, his tragic passing in July 2023, after being hit by a speeding motorist, has had a profound impact on me. Over the past year, I have attended several charity fundraisers for the Number 8 Foundation, which was set up in his memory by his brother Charlie and his incredible family. From everything I've heard, George Casey was an amazing person, and I am honoured to run in his memory as well.
I know that both Georges will be with me in spirit as I take on this challenge, cheering me on from the sidelines. I can picture George with his roll-up and beanie, and George Casey, no doubt smiling down from above, proud of the community his family has created in his name.
It’s hard to think about, but every time you see a London Air Ambulance flying overhead, it means someone's life has been dramatically changed. The charity operates on a budget of over £15 million a year, and every donation helps keep their vital services running.
This marathon means the world to me — not only as a tribute to the two Georges but also as a way to give back to the incredible people who do everything they can to save lives. Your support means so much, and I would be incredibly grateful for any donation, no matter how big or small.
I know both George and George Casey will be with me every step of the way. Together, we can help ensure the London Air Ambulance continues to be there for those who need it most.
