Why I'm running the London Landmarks Half Marathon...

I was going to hang up my charity running shoes for good and just take part in races for my own enjoyment, as I absolutely hate asking people for money (even if it is for charity!), but I am running this final one on the 1^st August at the London Landmarks Half Marathon, and this is why…

…In March this year, Gordon, the loveliest lollipop man at Matthew and Florence’s school was involved in a fatal collision whilst cycling to the school.  London's Air Ambulance were called in to try and save him but sadly his injuries were too severe, and he passed away.  With an average flight time of just 7.5 minutes, the air ambulance can mean the difference between life and death for seriously injured patients, yet they are funded entirely by charity donations.  This is why I, and some other Mums from Matthew’s class have decided to fundraise on behalf of London’s Air Ambulance to ensure they can continue to provide life-saving care to those who need it.

Gordon was a keen runner himself and had expressed his desire to run a half marathon this year, but sadly he won’t get this wish, so we have decided to run one for him.

Your donation will help save more lives by keeping the helicopter in the air and the rapid response cars on the road, ready for when they are needed most.
