Between 16th - 24th January 2024, I am off on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure to cycle across the Andes from one side of South America to the other, in support of London’s Air Ambulance.
I’ve been training hard in the dismal weather over Christmas here in the UK to work off the turkey and get fit. The event is not for the faint-hearted. It starts in Chile, ends in Argentina and this is what I am in for:
⁃ 9 consecutive days of cycling
⁃ 1,724 kilometres to cover
⁃ 30,961 feet of ascent over the Andes (equivalent to scaling the Shard x 30!)
I’m supporting London’s Air Ambulance due to the number of cyclists they treat in and around London. https://www.londonsairambulance.org.uk
The charity is currently fundraising for 2 brand new helicopters so the team can continue to deliver advanced trauma care at the roadside to seriously injured patients.
