I'm cycling 55miles from London to Brighton to help save lives in London

Thank you for viewing my page.  As you can see I’m doing the London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday 14th September in aid of London’s Air Ambulance. Originally I signed up to do this last year as I was keen to help raise funds for their two new helicopters. Unfortunately, due to a back injury I had to pull out but every cloud ……as this year Brenden is old enough to ride with me so we’re doing it together.

What with Allan’s position at work, which includes his hands on guidance and assistance with the specialist medical equipment inside the helicopter, plus seeing the helicopter frequently fly across our back garden, it seemed a good reason to get on my bike and raise money for a service that you never know if you might (hopefully not) need.   Lots of people don’t realise they are a charity and rely on support and donations to operate.

They deliver an advanced trauma team to London’s most seriously injured patients  - roughly 5 Adults or Children anywhere within the M25, every day.   On average each mission costs £2,208 and the money raised will go towards funding a potentially life-saving mission.

Each donation will help save more lives by keeping the helicopter in the air and the 7 rapid response cars on the road.  By providing intervention as quickly as possible after injury, London’s Air Ambulance Charity aims to give patients the best chance of survival  - and best quality of life, after trauma.  Not only are they able to transport patients quickly by air, but they also bring advanced pre-hospital lifesaving care directly to the patient in the field. 

They deal with almost any trauma, not just RTA's, are airborne in 4 minutes and able to be anywhere within the M25 in 11 minutes.  During night hours they operate from rapid response cars.

The London's Air Ambulance is a 24/7 - 365day service. The have very specialist medical equipment, medical teams and their operating overheads; training, helipad fire crew's, car maintenance, etc., mean this service needs huge support.  They are also continuing to innovate and introduce new services and treatments, but it all needs funding.

I am very grateful for any donation  - even the smallest help is able to make a real difference.

Brenden is usually my gym buddy so we’re used to pushing each other on, although we’ve never ridden 55miles or tackled Ditchling Beacon but we are looking forward to the challenge together.  So wish us luck!  Allan & Lucie-Ella will be waiting for us in Brighton with an ice cream!!
